We warmly welcome international musicians to join our orchestras. Making and performing music together is a wonderful experience that enriches your life — and connects cultures.

Who can join

Have you played an instrument in the past, or have you recently started learning? Of course all instruments of a symphonic orchestra are welcome, but we are happy to welcome any other instrument, e.g. piano, drums, other types of wind or string instruments.  In most cases, we can adapt scores to your specific instrument and skill level.

You can join our orchestras up to the age of 25.  For children below the of 15, starting their musical development, we have specific orchestras/ensembles available. Information upon request.

If Dutch is still a challenge, no problem — music is an international language. You’ll naturally pick up Dutch musical terms along the way.

 

Improve your musical skills

By joining us, you’ll learn to make music together in an orchestra or ensemble. If you’d like to  improve playing your specific instrument (technical skills), which is highly recommended, we can help you find a qualified music teacher.

Need an instrument

Don’t have your own instrument yet? Let us know — we’ll do our best to help you find an affordable (loan) instrument.

When & where

You’re welcome to visit a rehearsal without any obligation, every Tuesday from 18:45 to 20:45 in the Popzaal of Gigant, Nieuwstraat 377, 7311 BR Apeldoorn. Please email us in advance at info@a-jo.nl so we can expect you.

Membership fee

You can attend a few rehearsals free of charge before deciding to join as a member. Membership is approximately €220 per year (subject to annual adjustment for inflation). This includes all weekly rehearsals (school holidays excluded), our concerts and events, and the basic fee for an annual camp (all inclusive, 1-2 days/nights).

If the cost of membership, additional lessons, or an instrument is a concern, please let us know. There are options available for financial support.
